Players’ unions from around the world gathered at FIFPRO’s headquarters in Amsterdam on March 15th and 16th, 2023, for the highly anticipated Legal Conference. This event brought together experts in international sports law, FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) arbitrators, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and lawyers specialising in the field.
“The FIFPRO Legal Conference gives us the opportunity to update everyone on ongoing issues relevant for union legal counsels, both on a domestic and international level, and to hear about the problems in different countries,” said FIFPRO Legal Director Roy Vermeer.
The conference aimed to address current developments and changes that could potentially impact football players across the globe. Key issues discussed during the event included maternity protection for players, the enforcement of FIFA Football Agent Regulations, anti-doping regulations, and the latest jurisprudence of FIFA DRC and CAS.
PFA Malaysia was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Izham Ismail, and Legal Executive, Mr. Syafiq Jebat, at this important conference. Their participation provided valuable insights and knowledge that will help shape a better future for footballers in Malaysia.
The Legal Conference is an annual event hosted by FIFPRO that brings together players’ unions from all over the world. It provides a platform for experts and professionals in the field to discuss and exchange information on issues affecting football players globally. The participation of PFA Malaysia in this conference is a testament to the union’s commitment to advocating for the rights of football players in Malaysia and beyond.
